A couple of years ago, with thoughts of the Christmas story fresh in my mind, I got thinking about the Christmas story from the perspective of the shepherds.

Lyrics

While shepherds watched, their flocks at night
Their sheep all bedded down
The air was calm, with no trouble in sight
While starlight twinkled 'round
Nothing was expected that night
Same as the night before
Still they sat watching the ev'ning sky
As shepherds often would do

Then from the realms of glory came
A light, that grew and grew
And coming from that light he proclaimed
As angels often do

He said don't worry now don"t you fret
For I bring such good news to you
This night is born in Bethlehem
The Christ, your Saviour and Lord

While the angel, stood before them
Glory shining around
They were afraid of the pow'r they beheld
Never before had they seen
The angel continued his mission divine
Said the babe in a manger lay
Wrapped in a blanket of ragged design
A sign for all mankind

Then from the realms of glory came
Many more angels who sang
Glory to God in the highest heav'n
With peace and goodwill to all

They said don't worry now don't you fret
For we bring such good news to you
This night is born in Bethlehem
The Christ, your Saviour and Lord

So don't you worry now don't you fret
I pass on this good news to you
On that night was born in Bethlehem
The Christ, your Saviour and Lord
The Christ, your Saviour and Lord
